Clyde Drexler is a retired American professional basketball player who played in the NBA for 15 seasons. He was a ten-time All-Star and named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History.
Clyde Drexler is a retired professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA) for 15 seasons. He was born on June 22, 1962 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is a 10-time NBA All-Star and was named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History in 1996.
Drexler attended the University of Houston, where he was a member of the Phi Slama Jama fraternity. He was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1983 NBA Draft and played for the team for eight seasons. During his time with the Blazers, he was a five-time All-Star and was named to the All-NBA First Team in 1991. He was also a member of the 1992 United States Olympic basketball team, known as the “Dream Team”, which won the gold medal at the 1992 Summer Olympics.
In 1995, Drexler was traded to the Houston Rockets, where he played for the remainder of his career. He was a key member of the Rockets’ 1995-96 championship team, and was named the NBA Finals MVP. He was also a member of the Rockets’ 1997-98 championship team. He retired from the NBA in 1998.
In addition to his basketball career, Drexler has also been involved in various business ventures. He is the owner of Clyde Drexler Enterprises, a sports and entertainment company. He is also a partner in the Houston-based restaurant chain, The Original Ninfa’s.
Drexler was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2004. He is also a member of the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame and the University of Houston Hall of Honor. He currently serves as a basketball analyst for ESPN.
